The Detail Shot

A ring lying loose in a flat lay shows you its side. Seated in the channel it faces the lens, stone up, and stays there while you move the invitation suite around it. Pull the brass easel off the back and the frame lies dead flat, so nothing tips when the table gets bumped. The gilt relief picks up whatever light is in the room and throws it back around the band, warm, without a reflector card.

The Dressing Table

Rings left in a dish scratch each other. Here the engagement ring, the band and the one you wear on Fridays each get their own channel, upright, visible, and the diamond never sits face down on a hard surface. It takes up less room than a lipstick lying on its side.

The Wall

There is a hook on the reverse. Hang it in the gallery wall between the wedding portrait and the grandparents, and from across the room it reads as one more small gilt frame. Up close it is holding the ring from the photograph next to it. The suede channels grip a band firmly enough that it stays seated with the frame vertical.

The Gift

For the bridesmaids, choose one lining color across the whole set and each frame still holds a different pair of earrings on the morning of the wedding. Cream white, beige and blush are the wedding-photo colors — they hold the light and keep a white-gold band from vanishing into shadow. The antiqued finish is worked by hand after the gilt goes on, so it sits brighter on the high points and softer in the hollows. No two frames catch the light in exactly the same places.

How many rings does it hold?

The Tableau ring frame holds up to 3 rings, one in each ribbed channel. Most people use it for one or two — the engagement ring and the band — and leave the third channel for a pair of studs. A single solitaire in the middle channel with the other two empty is the shot photographers ask for most.

Is the frame real gold?

No, the frame is cast resin with a gilt finish, hand-antiqued so the carving reads as old gold rather than new paint. It is not metal, which is why the whole frame weighs about the same as a large egg and why a single picture pin holds it on a wall. The finish does not flake or tarnish with normal handling; keep it away from cleaners and it stays the color it arrived.

Can I hang it on the wall?

Yes, there is a hook on the reverse and the frame hangs from a single nail or picture pin. The suede channels grip a ring band tightly enough that it stays put with the frame vertical, so it can sit inside a gallery wall of family photographs and still be where you keep the ring.

Why is the stand removable?

The brass easel comes off so the frame can lie completely flat for a flat lay or a detail shot. With the easel on, the frame stands at a slight lean on a dressing table or a shelf. Slide it back in when you are done shooting; it does not need tools.

Does it hold earrings?

Yes. Stud posts push in between the ribs and seat there the same way a ring band does. Hook wires and small drops rest on the open suede at the bottom of the frame. A ring in one channel and a pair of studs in the next is a common way to use it.

Which lining color for wedding photos?

Cream white is the safe choice for wedding detail shots because it matches the invitation suite and keeps a white-gold or platinum band from disappearing. Beige and soft blush pink are the warmer versions of the same idea. If the ring is yellow gold on its own, navy blue or forest green will make it read brighter than a pale lining does.
